I t looked like an impossible task for the Indian Cricket team and that too to defeat a team like Zimbabwe; as they hadn't any against them in the Tri-series.But they proved in the two T-20 matches against Zimbabwe that they are no more underdogs.
In the first T-20 Indian captain Suresh Raina opted for fielding first. It was quite a simple total for a team like India. When the bowling department mainly focused on the line and length,Zimbabwe batsmen found it hard to score runs and they was able to put only 112 runs in their score board. In bowling Vinay Kumar(3/24) Praghyan Ojha(2/11) and Ravindra Jadeja(2/21) showed their responsibilities. But in the early part of the Indian reply they found it hard to score even 70 runs as they were struggling at 46/4.But then came Virat Kohli(27) and Yusuf Pathan(36) who steered India to a comfortable 6 -wicket victory in the first T-20 with five overs to spare.
In the second T-20 match again Zimbabwe was given the duty to score first and India to chase it by Suresh Raina.Once again Indian bowling and fielding department done exceptionally well to restrict the hosts to modest total 140 runs. Thanks to Taibu (45) and Coventry (28) for their crucial innings.
In reply it was Indian Captain Suresh Raina who did the rest of the job. With a stunning 72 runs of 44 balls he moved India to blistering win in the second T-20 too. Also Indian opener Murali Vijay (46) runs gave Raina good support and had a good partnership of 79 runs for the second wicket....
